SOPHIA WELLNESS
After graduating from the University of Surrey Roehampton with a BA (Hons) in Dance Studies (2001), I completed a comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training in Matwork and Studio Apparatus with the Pilates Foundation UK.
For the past 15 years I teach Pilates group classes and private sessions at the St. Lawrence Physiotherapy Clinic in Canterbury, where I have the opportunity to work with an amazing team of skilled professionals, Physiotherapists and Osteopaths. I have also worked at The Partnership physiotherapy clinic in Ashford, offering Pilates Studio classes. I also
run my own small home practice, offering private Pilates studio sessions and Massage therapy.
In 2019 I was qualified in Advanced Clinical and Sports Massage Therapy with the Jing Method and currently working at the St. Lawrence Physiotherapy and the Limes Physiotherapy offering Sports and remedial Massage. I can treat a range of chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions including low back pain, neck pain, headaches whiplash, RSI, fibromyalgia and many other ongoing injury or pain conditions. I use a range of safe and effective soft tissue and massage techniques that aim to reduce pain and increase range of movement within 1-6 clinical treatments. The techniques I use include myofascial release, trigger point therapy, acupressure, stretching and tailored self care.
I have a passion and endless curiosity for movement biomechanics, which drives me to constantly refine my knowledge and skills through attending seminars, workshops and anatomy courses. Over the years I attended multiple workshops, with special interest in Anatomy Trains Structural Integration. Currently I am attending a course in Neurovascular release, a method of manual therapy by board certified Anatomy Trains practitioner and teacher Kier Schumacker.
